GEN(Ret) Donn A. Starry, widely regarded as one of the fathers of AirLand Battle, the doctrine that saw the US Army through the end of the Cold War, died this past Friday after a long fight with cancer.
If there is anyone to whom the U.S. Armored force owes its eternal debt and gratitude, it is him.
As a former armored cavalryman, I was among the inheritors of his legacy. Yet another reason to continue to pursue the dissertation.
