First run of the year!

Today's run was an interesting exercise in resistance. The first half going out was surprisingly easy - when I realized that I'd face the fast tailwind going out again as a crushing headwind on the return leg. What really made today's run interesting was the uphill+headwind combination. The major changes between miles 7 and 8 to the rest are indicative of the level of resistance versus relative effort required. I made a point of trying to run in cover to try to minimize exposure to the wind in those areas. Running uphill wasn't quite as bad since I had a treeline to mask the wind for portions of it. Cresting intervisibility lines was particularly brutal when running into the wind. Yes, I'm using the term incorrectly. No, I don't care.

It didn't feel like 16mph, though. I would've figured closer to about 20.
