Peace...love...75TH RANGERS?This is the same Ranger Regiment that has had posters made of it to the tune of Orwell's immortal quotation "people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
The same 75th Ranger Regiment that I'll now associate with peace...love...and two rounds in the lethal zone.
Curious to know what sparked this blog? I'm the Public Affairs Officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment and always interested in hearing what people have to say about the Rangers.
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness, it's hard to get the irony of the original URL without seeing the product itself.
ReplyDeleteThere are certain things I normally associate with the Ranger Regiment, but tie-dye colors and a slogan I normally ascribe to the 60s counterculture are not those things!
When I want to think of "the world's most elite light infantry," that's something much more akin to what I normally associate with the term 75th Rangers.
After writing a senior thesis about the organization as an undergraduate and having served as a strategic planner for the next higher Army organization a few years back...believe me, I have a lot of respect for the regiment (and personally know some served in it), which is why my reaction is what it was.
