10km on dreadmill, 54:35, 11 FEB 14, Kabul, Afghanistan

Today is day 81 of the campaign.

iThink:

WX at 8 AM (13) Feb 11 33 (1) 14 (-10) 30.03 (1017) E 8

Odometer 13B: 158.5mi

Z4. Average/max heart rate = 160/172

I thought today was going to be easy, and that was the intent, but rather than trying to run by feel, I was running by the numbers-- on a metric dreadmill so I had to do some quick beer math while I was on the 'mill.

I wsa figuring out how fast I was going, and i was originally intending on running just 9:00/mi, but I think pride and insouciance got the better of me and I ended up running a fairly solid zone 4 run. Probably too hard but since I took two days off, I don't feel too guilty. Besides, the objective was to burn lard, and I think I did a little bit (although not too much at the pace I was going) on this one.

Still, I need to be more disciplined about going easy when it's warranted.
