I was not really expecting to find a Concept2 in the gym here at Norfolk. I know it's the Navy and all, but a Concept2 is a kind of torture machine I don't normally associate with any place other than an Army gym or one catering to Crossfit enthusiasts.

So, after doing some desultory vertical chest, lower back, and abdominal work, I chanced on the C2 and decided to set it to 8,000m. Discretion prevailed and I chickened out at 5,000.

It's always hard for me to really judge what relative effort should feel like on a C2, and usually, I felt like I'm going harder than a HRM says I am. However, I wasn't wearing a HRM, so I don't know how I felt other than how I felt - which is rarely an accurate measure of work.

Still, better than not doing anything at all. Off to dinner, Target, and grocery shopping, in that order.
