Household6 said I was stupid to be running during a thunderstorm. IIRC, those are always the best runs. There's something curiously cathartic about a run in a rainstorm.
So it was thundering and raining. I briefly, very briefly, entertained the thought of chickening out. I also realized that I needed to get going again and sleeping in was not an option. This is where the prospect of a running partner (which I had this morning) was a powerful motivator not to blow the workout off, as I didn't want to stand him up. Once I was out the door, the rest was pretty academic.
Today was none too fast, as I was carrying on a conversation - but I was being relatively judicious as to pacing as I didn't want to get too ambitious on the road to recovery.
I don't know why the Sarah Shannon song keeps sticking in my head. I was a pretty partisan Velocity Girl fan in the day, but it's been a long while since I really listened to any of that, which is not really a reflection on Velocity Girl's comparative excellence.
