Average heart rate before start = 163

This is perimeter run 29.

Today was hard, but I wasn't going all that terribly fast. At least I didn't think so. Then I was lashed up with someone going about the same speed as me and I ended up running pretty hard the last 3.5mi. I was in the hurt box - but this will probably pay dividends later on.

The average heart rate at the end is an indicator of the level of suck. On the other hand, if I don't work any harder, I don't get any better. That's the way it is.

I was tempted to sleep in though. The temperature was downright pleasant...for being the middle of the summer. I'm sure it'll be crazy hot soon enough.

On a slightly different note, I realized that today is the 63rd anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. I'm not sure why I remember August 6 and 9 for their events - but I do. I don't think about nuclear weapons much as a planner - when I do, I'm usually ill at ease for a while afterwards.
