Since I've been too lazy to describe my passage to Fort Campbell, suffice it to say, I have departed Fort Leavenworth. There is an undeniable feeling of disconnection I feel at being a geographic bachelor, especially when I see other folks out here with their children. It's the absence of my kids that I often feel the most.

First run in over a week. Man, did it hurt. Some contributing factors:
1. I was running in high humidity for the first time in a while.
2. I was running on trails for the first time since I was at Carlisle Barracks (aside from running the Psycho WyCo 20 miler).

I always lose some speed on trails (primarily to prevent from augering myself into a tree or bush), but the hills were really killing me today. They usually do. Dunbar Cave State Park is not particularly long, and the trails are not particularly technical, but that actually serves my purposes well.

I was thinking about going for a fourth lap, but discretion prevailed over bad judgment.

The road to recovery, however, begins with some discomfort. It begins today...
